This is my Ko'Aloha soprano ukulele! The top, back, sides and neck are solid Hawaiian koa wood. About two years ago I bought one of these (although with a mahogany neck) for Amy and she loved it. Since then I've toyed with the idea of getting one for myself, but never very seriously. But this past December I decided I just had to have one. Thanks to the fine folks at Elderly Instruments, I was able to get myself well and truly flea-bitten by the uke-bug. :-) Of course, it was built as a right-handed instrument but I simply flipped it over and restrung it and it plays and sounds great! The saddle isn't compensated so it's no big deal to "convert" it that way. Anyway, I really, really like it! I've decided I like playing uke so much that I now have a Custom Glyph on the way from luthier Dave Means. I expected that I'd sell my KoAloha when the Glyph is ready (sometime around October '07) but I've had so much fun with it these past couple of months that I doubt I will. We kind of bonded when Amy, Mom and I were snowed in at a big family wedding for a while during the Nor'Easter of 2006 in Massachusetts. The happy sounds of my uke helped keep the cold at bay as snow piled up two feet deep outside the hotel. | ||
